Westchester-Rockland Clubs Host Top-Level Summer Camps
Looking to sharpen your blade work, strengthen your footwork, and fence with top competitors over the summer? Westchester-Rockland clubs are hosting top-level camps that are sure to get you ready for the season ahead. Whether new to the sport, or a top competitor, there’s something to match your skill level and needs.
Fencing Academy of Westchester:
Weekly sessions for all three weapons, all ages, beginning July 27th. Session 5 (last session) begins August 24.
For beginners, the first 3 days will introduce each of the three weapons. By day 5, new fencers will be working alongside experienced competitors.

Nyack Fencing Academy
This years Summer Intensive Camp will combine students of multiple clubs, skill levels, and coaching styles to produce the best possible result for the campers. In partnership with other tri-state clubs, Nyack Fencing Academy presents a week-long sleep away camp at the Peddie School in New Jersey. Camp runs from August 2-8th. Space is limited! Enroll soon.

Thrust Fencing Academy
A one-week sabre camp open to both boys and girls ages 11-19 with fencing experiences that range from novice to nationally ranked fencers. All fencers must provide their own electrical equipment.The camp will be limited to fifty fencers. Day one is August 2nd — sign up now by clicking HERE.
2015 Junior Olympics and National Qualifier Dates Announced
The fencing season is about to get underway, and in anticipation of a busy, competitive year, the West-Rock Division has set dates and sites for the 2015 Junior Olympic and 2015 Summer National Y14 and Div2/Div 3 Championships Qualifiers. Both qualifiers will be held at the Fencing Academy of Westchester (FAW) in Hawthorne, NY.
2015 Junior Olympics Qualifiers
Date: Sunday, November 23, 2014
Age Categories: Junior (U20) and Cadet (U17)
Event Fee: $50/event
Pre-registration is now open on AskFred and closes on Sunday, November 9th. Late entries will be accepted at double entry fee between November 10 and November 16. Absolutely NO entries will be accepted after midnight on November 16th, no exceptions.

2015 Summer National Y14 and Div 2/Div 3 Championships
Date: Sunday, March 15, 2015
Age Categories: Y14, Division 2, Division 3,Veteran
Event Fee: $50/event
Pre-registration is now open on AskFred and closes on Sunday, March 1st. Late entries will be accepted at double entry fee between march 2nd and 9th. Absolutely NO entries will be accepted after midnight on March 9th, no exceptions.

Important Notes:
All fencers in these tournaments must be members of the West-Rock Division and hold current USFA Membership. You will be asked to present your membership card at check-in. Please verify your division with the USFA (NOT Askfred!) before registering — you can do that by clicking HERE.
Please note that AskFred is independent from the USFA — classification upgrades noted on AskFred are not valid until confirmed by the USFA.
Late registration can be made via email to kareckling@gmail.com. Please send the fencer’s name, birth year, weapon, age categories, and classification in the email.
Payment for these events cannot be made online. Checks, made payable to the West-Rock Division USFA can be mailed in advance to the address noted on the “more info” page of the AskFred tournament listing. Payment is also accepted at the door in cash or check. Credit Cards not accepted.
If you register for multiple events, payment for all events is expected by check-in for the first event. Refunds are not granted if fencers elect to withdraw from later events.
The West-Rock Division is a 501c3 non-profit. Tournament fees go directly to referee payments and costs associated with running the qualifier.
Event times are subject to change based on number of registrants. Please check our website and AskFred for updates.
West-Rock Takes the Podium at the 2014 Summer National Championships
At the 2014 Summer National Championships and July NAC, the West-Rock Division was represented by 267 entries! We had 20 fencers place in the top 8 — that’s 10% of our competitors. We also saw 3 National Champions; 3 Silver Medalists; and 5 Bronze Medalists.
What a showing!

Scenes from Our Div2/3 and Y14 National Qualifiers
At today’s Division 2 & 3 and Y14 National Qualifying Tournament, the West-Rock Division recognized US Junior and Cadet Men’s Epee World Championship Team member Joshua Cole and his coach Alex Zurabishvili. We also acknowledged Fencing Academy of Westchester Head Coach, Slava Grigoriev for his contribution to Westchester-Rockland Fencing.
Fencers competed today in 12 events across 2 categories. The top 4 finishers were recognized in each event with medals. 54 fencers from West-Rock qualified to the Division 2, Division 3, and Youth-14 Summer National Championships. Full results will be posted later today on askfred.net.
West-Rock Sends Two to the Cadet & Junior World Championships
Congratulations to West-Rock Division fencers Riya Dave and Joshua Cole who after a long season of domestic and world cup tournaments, earned berths on the US Cadet & Junior World Championship Teams.
Joshua earned a spot on both the Cadet and Junior Men’s Epee Teams. He is from Chappaqua and represents the Fencing Academy of Westchester, where he is coached by Alex Zurabishvili.
Riya, a Junior at Ardsley High School, will be fencing in Cadet Women’s Saber. She is coached by Jason Sheridan at Sheridan Fencing.
We wish these two good luck and good fencing in Croatia in April!
